Thin-Film Photovoltaics

Angel Aquino

Angel is a third year, materials science graduate student.  He holds a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Campus (May 2004).  His current work involves research with amorphous CdGeAs2 samples to be used as radiation detectors.  He is also studying the interface between CuInSe2/CdS by fabricating and analyzing devices.

Throughout his graduate studies, he has served as a teaching assistant for the following courses: MSE 101 (Materials in Today’s World), MSE 460 (Electronic Materials and Processing I) and ECE 444 (Theory and Fabrication of Integrated Circuits; http://fabweb.ece.uiuc.edu/).  He has also interned at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio where he worked on CuInS2 thin-film solar cells for space applications and is currently a Sloan Scholar.  Angel also serves as a mentor for the Intel Undergraduate Research Program at the UIUC.
